Application for operator and software provider licensed status successful so far

This week, Michael Gaughan’s South Point Casino application has recorded a major success when it received an approval of a license for an intrastate online poker operator, service provider and software manufacturer from the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Its application, titled South Point Poker LLC, is now moving to the Nevada Gaming Commission, which will consider it at the August 23 meeting. After that, it will undergo an independent testing procedure which will assess if the company complies with stringent technological requirements.

If everything goes well for South point, the operator license it acquires will be is the first one issued so far. Still, it&s not very clear what will happen once it passes the technology tests – according to NGCB chairman Mark Lipparelli, he would like a final “administrative review” before the company starts offering real-money action in Nevada.

After the hearing, a legal representative for South Point appeared to be very happy with the outcome, stating: “Michael Gaughan had the vision to embrace online gaming from the beginning. South Point Poker is optimistic it will be the first to take real-money bets later this year.”

Furthermore, it has been revealed by the company that when the real money operations go live, it will deploy on a different, and probably proprietary, software platform, and introduce a “unique, patent-pending” technology for geo-location.
